(ARISTES,PA)- In Columbia County, the small community of Aristes is mourning the loss of their fellow fire chief, 61 year old Scott Yeager, who passed away on Monday. He was the chief there for over 20 years and people we spoke with today, only had nice things to say about him. Funeral arrangements are pending. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

What's Up Wednesday
(WILKES-BARRE, PA)-Every Wednesday on this blog you will be reading ''What's Up" in the Wyoming Valley. Today we look at social media and the impact it has on our daily lives. We wake up every day and what do we do? You need a daily dose of interaction. Whether it's on your PC or mobile device many of use interact because it is there. What would happen if we didn't have social media to communicate with? Pretty safe assumption to say we would be a lost world without it. That's this weeks ''What's Up Wednesday."

What Happening? June 3rd Edition
Every Monday in June, I take a peak back of something or how someone transpired from the past to the present. Today we take a look at gas prices. Over the years, slight increases have now turned into skyrocketed prices at the pump. Got the chance to go through some old photos the other day and the price in that picture was a good bargain, $2.65. As of today, the current price of gas is $3.30. That is the lowest I could find in the area. It really is dismal feeling when a good percentage of your paycheck drains towards gas. There is one upside to it though. I found some ways to save.
WAYS TO SAVE AT GAS STATIONS:
--Membership Rewards.Stations partner will various food outlets to knock off cents at the Pump.
Price Chopper
Sheetz
Turkey Hill
--A social user plugged website, gasprices.com, let's users submit prices in their community. It's a great tool because you don't have to drive around to find the lowest. They also feature a mobile app.
--Conserve. Every paycheck, put a few extra dollars away towards gas each month. Then at the end of each month, use that 'bonus' money to put that extra gallon or two of gas.
That's this weeks What's Happening. Any comments, feel free to email me at EverythingNEPA@yahoo.com or simply leave a comment on here. Happy Driving!

Syracuse Crunch Send the Penguins Packing
(WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, PA) -It's unfortunate that the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins could not advance to the Calder Cup Finals. The Syracuse Crunch, their opponent, was too much to handle for the Pens. The opposing team was a hot streak, losing only 1 game in the entire playoffs, sizzled through Game 5 with a 7-0 victory. Penguins will regroup and enjoy a 3 month hiatus then back to training camp in the Fall. In the meantime, the big club struggled last night as the sailing Bruins cruised for a 3-0 victory over the goaless Pens. Next game for Pittsburgh is Monday at 8PM in the steel city.
